About Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute

Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) is national institution in Slovakia responsible for monitoring and forecasting weather, hydrological, and climatic conditions, as well as managing biofuels.

Challange

SHMÚ manages Slovakia’s entire biofuel lifecycle, from production to distribution, involving diverse users like producers, traders, and regulatory bodies. To meet these needs, the SK-BIO project introduced a biofuel tracking system to monitor production, distribution, and emissions reporting.

The system required a comprehensive analysis, which led us to focus on three key improvements:

Eliminating the use of paper forms and ensuring complete digital services, including the ability for all users to submit documents online.
Implementing automatic data verification and enabling faster, more efficient processing.
Creating a comprehensive and detailed reporting system for effective management and decision-making.

Collaboration Goal

The aim is to modernize the current biofuel management system in Slovakia, digitize existing processes, streamline monitoring and transaction recording of biofuels, and enhance reporting to relevant authorities.

How did we proceed?

1 Analysis of Existing Processes

We assessed and evaluated the functionality and efficiency of current workflows and systems to identify areas for improvement.

2 User Interface Design and Preparation

We developed the visual and functional design of the application to ensure optimal user interaction with the system.

3 Architecture Design and Setup

We planned and implemented the technical infrastructure and software components based on predefined priorities to ensure an efficient and scalable application.

4 Solution Implementation

We developed and deployed the final software solution according to the specified requirements and designs.

For SHMÚ, we developed and implemented a robust yet scalable IT system using modern and sustainable technologies. It features an intuitive and user-friendly interface.

The system handles thousands of transactions daily, processes all user inputs, ensures data backup, and includes validation mechanisms to maintain data accuracy and integrity.

Administrators have access to a data management console that streamlines administrative processes. Additionally, the system logs all user activity for potential audits.
